Rep. Tim Jones Named Chair of House Committee on General Laws
Jefferson City— House Speaker Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, today named Representative Tim Jones, R-Eureka, to chair the House Special Committee on General Laws.
“I am confident Rep. Jones is the right choice to chair this committee and I look forward to seeing the results he will produce in this new role,” said Speaker Jetton. “Tim is a bright and hard-working legislator who will use his role as chair to ensure we utilize the committee process to create the best legislation possible.”
The House Special Committee on General Laws considers and reports upon bills and matters referred to it relating to issues that fall outside the scope of the other House committees. As chair of the committee, Rep. Jones will preside over committee hearings and be responsible for all legislation referred to the committee.
“It is an honor to be selected to chair this committee and I look forward to the work we will do this session,” said Rep. Jones. “I anticipate considering a number of important pieces of legislation and look forward to leading this committee as we work to create better laws for the people of Missouri.”
Rep. Jones represents District 89 which includes part of St. Louis County. He was elected to the House in November 2006 and received the Freshman Legislator of the Year Award in 2007 from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce & Industry.. In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Jones is an attorney.
