State Representative- 89th District - State of Missouri

Home

Welcome Friends

It is an honor and privilege to serve as your State Representative and to serve all of the 34,000 citizens of the 89th District.  The 89th District comprises most of the City
of Wildwood, the entire City of Eureka, and portions of unincorporated west St. Louis County.

In my first legislative session which ran from January 3 to May 18, 2007, I kept my commitments to you as I pursued the following agenda through drafting, arguing and voting for the following important legislative items:

1)       Lowering your taxes

I co-sponsored and voted for HB 444 which was signed into law by the Governor, which will phase in the elimination of taxation on Social Security benefits.

2)       Safeguarding & Strengthening the Second Amendment

I sponsored legislation to grant concealed-carry protection to our Federal Flight Deck Marshals when they are in our state and to our retired police officers.  This legislation was passed into law along with the strengthened Castle Doctrine (the right to use force to protect your family and your home from criminals) which I helped to debate and legislate into law on the House Floor.

3)       Promoting Economic Development

I consistently voted for and assisted in Floor debates to provide tax credits and tax incentives to our small businesses and corporations that make up the backbone of our State’s economy

4)       Protecting & Safeguarding Life

I voted for the major pro-life bill that included many pieces of legislation designed to lower the amount of abortions performed in this state and to safeguard the lives of women and children throughout Missouri

 In Your Service,

Interim Report VII:  November 6, 2008:  SPECIAL POST-ELECTION UPDATE!

AND THE WINNER IS…DEMOCRACY!!

Two days ago, voters again went to the polls as they have done for over two hundred years in the life of our great Republic to exercise one of our most fundamental rights, the right to vote.  Democracy was truly the winner as our Nation witnessed an historic turnout from the rocky coasts of Maine across our great and wide Heartland to the sun drenched beaches of California.  I am very proud of our country and of our citizens who turned out in record numbers to assist in providing for yet another peaceful transition of power from one administration to the next.  I am honored, humbled and privileged to report that I have been chosen once again by the great people of the 89th District to continue serving you in Jefferson City.

And so now, after a long and tiring election season we finally have a picture of Missouri’s political future. Some will say the picture is blurred, others will say it is bright and clear. Let me share with you what I see for the future of our state.

There are many very positive results to discuss relating to the election especially here in Missouri when you examine the results of our state races, most notably in the General Assembly.  Republicans won 89 seats in the Missouri House and maintain a strong unified majority. Missouri Senate Republicans expanded their majority by adding three Senators to their ranks, resulting in a 23 to 11 total.  The reason for these results is simple.  The Missouri General Assembly has, among many other accomplishments, balanced its budget for four years in a row, without any tax increases, has created thousands of new, good paying jobs, has provided more funding than ever for education, again without any tax increases, has actually cut taxes in several important areas, has passed real estate property tax reform, has improved our roadways and bridges and has protected fundamental rights that Missourians hold dear, including, but not limited to, the right to life and our rights guaranteed to us by the Second Amendment.  Most importantly, Missouri is one of less than 20 states that have a budget SURPLUS during this very difficult fiscal year.  This is truly a remarkable accomplishment and is due to the fact that Missouri is one of the few states that has had sound fiscal management while providing all necessary services to its citizens.
